Keane Innovates with Open Source Keyword Automation Framework

28 April 2009

San Francisco, CA — April 28, 2009 - Keane, Inc., a global services firm that specializes in optimizing Information Technology (IT) investments, today announced the launch of its new keyword-driven test automation framework, Open2Test.

A group of automation engineers at Keane has created a tool-independent, keyword-driven automation framework and is making the framework available to the QA community as open source to take test automation to the next level.

The basic premise builds from the standardization of keywords for common functions across a variety of technologies, and for a variety of test automation tools. This allows testers to create test scripts using keywords in Excel spreadsheets and run those scripts with all of the major test automation tools in the market.

The framework can be downloaded at www.Open2Test.org and has the dual purpose of bringing real value to those using the framework, and also allowing users to become part of the open source community to help maintain and expand the framework.

“Test automation today is largely the same as it was 10 years ago,” says Marv Mouchawar, Executive Vice President of Global Practices and Products at Keane.  “Our experts at Keane created a solution to overcome the most difficult problem in developing a flexible, tool independent, platform independent, keyword-driven automation framework by delivering an open source solution.  The goal of Open2Test is to raise the bar in the industry and set a new standard for test automation while allowing clients to focus on the important tasks such as writing automated test cases for their application under test.”
